TLC Eye Products

TLC makes an excellent range of eye products for Dry Eye and Macular health. These include TLC healthy Eyes supplement, TLC eye lid wipes, TLC MeiboTears and TLC MeiboClean lid hygiene foam containing tea tree oil.

The oral supplement TLC Healthy Eyes contains Lutein and Zeaxanthin, zinc and vitamin C in a chewable, easy swallow, orange flavoured pastille. Many patients find that conventional macular supplements are both large and dry and difficult to swallow. TLC healthy Eyes can be chewed, sucked till they dissolve or easily swallowed whole. They are also very reasonably priced. They contain 10mg of Lutein and 2 mg of Zeaxanthin, 200mg of vitamin C, 40 mg vitamin E and 14mg of Zinc. There is evidence that much higher levels of zinc can have had an adverse effect in some patients with Dry Macular Degeneration. The Healthy Eyes supplement is made with no preservatives, artificial colours or flavours or sweeteners. It is Gelatin and gluten free and does not contain milk, wheat, eggs or nuts or any GMO ingredients. It is made using real fruit juice and fruit pectins. A serving contains approximately 8 calories.

TLC lid wipes are great for lid hygiene for patients with dry eye, blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction. They are also great for simply removing make-up efficiently. These have been carefully formulated and have no sls, paraben, fragrance, preservative, alcohol, colouring, lanolin or soap. They contain camomile to soothe puffy, tired or inflamed eyes.
TLC Eye Care Wipes are individually wrapped, great for on the go! Each sachet contains 1 large eyelid wipe always ready and hygienic. Most people find one wipe is large enough to be torn into 2 halves so that one half can be used for each eye. Dispose of these in your normal domestic rubbish bin after use, not in the toilet.

TLC MeiboClean lid hygiene foam is great to use in the shower or at bath-time. For maximum effect apply after warming the eyelids with hot water, Massage the foam onto the eyelids through closed eyes for at least a minute and rinse with cool water before opening eyes.

This gel-filled “blindfold-type” mask can be used either as a hot or cold compress. As a hot compress it is heated up to working temperature by immersing in boiling water for 45 seconds. After checking the mask temperature is right on your cheek, the mask is applied and held in place by its Velcro strap, where it will stay hot for about 3 minutes. Just right before using TLC lid wipes or TLC MeiboClean products.

As a cold compress it is usually stored in the freezer and removed a couple of minutes before use. It is often used after a hot compress followed by lid hygiene. The heat is great to open up the meibomian glands and soften the meibomian secretions, making any subsequent lid hygiene much more effective. It does however, cause capillary dilation, which if left unchecked can leave you with red inflamed eyes and puffy eye lids. The cold compress encourages capillary constriction and prevents this happening. The cold Meibo-Mask is also great for reducing red eye and puffy lids caused by other conditions such as hay fever and after eye lid surgery.

Theratears Nutrition
This excellent combined Fish oil and Flax oil supplement was developed following many years research by American dry eye expert, Jeff Gilbard. It contains 1.6g of hyper-refined fish oil and 1.0g of flax oil. This the research showed was the ideal mix to help the body secrete good meibomian oils. Gilbards formulation differs from others in that not only does it have the heavy metals etc removed from the high quality fish oil, but it has also had the phytoestrogens removed from the flax oil, a highly desirable feature for women taking such supplements. The dose is 3 easy swallow capsules, ideally taken at breakfast time.
